White Plains startup is re-inventing what an office is

KOI Creative Space, a coworking startup, opened five months ago on Mamaroneck Avenue.

As the city's office space vacancy rate improves, two young professionals are looking to re-invent what an office actually is.

Ryan Doran, 31, and Jonathan Manierre, 34, spent months looking for space for their advertising agency, and didn't like anything they found.

“We'd seen a lot of traditional office space, but weren’t impressed," Manierre said. "There was no way to make a space your own except for the tchotchkes you put on your desk."

Doran said they were looking for something that was convenient, lively and conducive to creativity and collaboration with like-minded professionals.

Unable to find anything that fit the bill, Doran and Manierre opened KOI Creative Space, a coworking startup, five months ago in a 2,500 square-foot former storage area above Lilly's restaurant at 169 Mamaroneck Ave.
