Downtown White Plains: Current Trends and Future Possibilities

The League of Women Voters of White Plains and co-sponsor Rotary Club of White Plains presents their Fall 2016 program, Downtown White Plains: Current Trends and Future Possibilities, to be held on Wednesday, September 14 from 7 pm – 9 pm in the Church Street School Auditorium.

Hear from a panel of professionals about the tools available to influence development and how communities can utilize those tools and resources to impact change. They will share examples of current efforts to boost downtown White Plains and success stories from other communities.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (September 6, 2016) – ArtsWestchester is pleased to announce the return of White Plains Jazz Fest, celebrating its 5th season. The festival, which kicks off on September 20, is a collaboration between ArtsWestchester, The City of White Plains and the White Plains BID to spotlight top jazz musicians in Westchester County.

"This festival is growing bigger and better than ever," said Mayor Thomas Roach. "It has become a White Plains tradition."

Millennials wanted: Westchester communities lure young people

White Plains Mayor Tom Roach said that, by encouraging development of housing in the business district, and negotiating with developers to make public improvements, the city is "creating an exciting, vibrant downtown."

"We've been successful in attracting not just millennials, but empty-nesters and people in general," he said.

Roach agreed that bringing young professionals into the region was critical.

June 15 - White Plains Transit District Public Engagement Meeting

The next public engagement session for the downtown transit district study is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30 pm in the NY Power Authority building, located at 123 Main Street, 1st floor Jaguar Room.
