Millennials wanted: Westchester communities lure young people

White Plains Mayor Tom Roach said that, by encouraging development of housing in the business district, and negotiating with developers to make public improvements, the city is "creating an exciting, vibrant downtown."

"We've been successful in attracting not just millennials, but empty-nesters and people in general," he said.

Roach agreed that bringing young professionals into the region was critical.

The City of White Plains Announces Expansion of ParkWhitePlains

Last spring, The City of White Plains launched its mobile parking app, ParkWhitePlains. They have seen an increase in usage of the app since launching, starting out with 6,767 transactions in May 2015 and growing to 27,811 transactions this past March.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Cortlandt Manor residents David and Claver Calise have taken over the ownership of Salon Savoir in White Plains. The two said they chose White Plains for their full-service business as the city is revitalizing and expanding. Plus, said David, "It's the business hub of Westchester."
